Poetry Exposition 2025: A Celebration of Expression, Heritage, and National Pride
The Saint Lucia National Housing Corporation (NHC) proudly hosted the Poetry Exposition 2025 on February 28, 2025, at the Entrepot Human Resource Centre. This event brought together talented young poets from secondary schools across the island to share their creative works centered on the themes of Independence, Development, and Housing in Saint Lucia.
The competition was fierce, with students delivering powerful and thought-provoking pieces that captured the essence of Saint Lucia’s journey. After an afternoon of inspiring performances, the winners were announced:
🏆 1st Place: Dainea Lubin (St. Joseph’s Convent) – “A Nation’s Journey: Roots of Freedom”
🥈 2nd Place: Group of 7 Students: ‘Kayla Andrew, Kaylee Simmons, Aquilla Joseph, Kerdella Charles, Kessia Gopal, Chadlyn Suffren and Amalie Ravenau (Corinth Secondary School) – “A Nation’s Harmony”
🥉 3rd Place: Jaeden John (St. Mary’s College) – “Mama Helen Smiles”
🎖️ Special Awards:
- NHC Managing Director Award: “Rising Together: The Journey of St. Lucia and the NHC”, by Anna Kay Ghirawoo (Entrepot Secondary School)
- NHC Chairman Award: “Her People, Developing with Progress & Intention”, by Akonaho Matshoko (Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School)
The event featured cultural performances, guest speaker remarks, and an engaging atmosphere that highlighted the importance of artistic expression in national development.
